Family might seem an unusual topic for a political magazine’s first issue, however we at BLYNKT chose this topic as it can be considered to be the ‘original’ institution. An organic institution with structure, hierarchy and power dynamics just as any other.
More interesting still is how throughout the course of history, governments have attempted to control, regulate and legislate the family institution, politicizing the family further.
Over the course of the next issue we hope to cover topics from a political, social and philosophical perspective. We are interested in current and historical stories of families, family units in totalitarian states, health and the family, same sex partnerships and alternative families, the cross cultural meaning of ‘Family’, biology, philosophy, opinions and essays. We will also be featuring short fiction and poetry relating to the topic.
We will be featuring these short pieces on the blog in the lead-up to the launch of the first issue, so please check back here regularly!
We are very pleased to introduce you to BLYNKT magazine. We are currently open for submissions for Issue #1 which will explore the broad theme of "Family". We will be looking at the concept of family in depth examining what makes a family, the cultural meaning of family, family as a social and legal institution as well as many sociological factors.
BLYNKT podcast will discuss the theme on a personal and interactive level.
If you would like to get involved, please check out or submissions page.
We look forward to hearing from you!
